NVA – an organisation known for “dynamic and unusual interventions in extraordinary landscapes” – commissioned PAS to design and facilitate a Place Standard workshop aimed at members of the local community. Three pre-existing focus groups were invited, each representing a different sector of the community, including young people.

Funded by Sustrans, this Local Place Plan (LPP) was developed in partnership with Stromness Community Development Trust, Stromness Community Council and Orkney Islands Council through a series of conversations with the people of Stromness. It created a ten-year plan, building on award-winning regeneration and investment delivered over the last decade and more.

Sustaining Choices supported economically disadvantaged and isolated communities in urban and rural Scotland which underutilised, or had poor access to, sustainable transport and active travel opportunities. The project trained local citizens as community facilitators to engage their communities in an online environment, developing in the process an increased evidence-base to support sustainable transport and active travel interventions.

Project Summary Commissioned by Applecross Community Company, PAS worked with local residents, community groups, and key stakeholders, such as the landowner (The Applecross Trust) and The Highland Council, to produce a collaborative Community Land Use Plan (CLUP), “Plan It Applecross”, for the community.

PAS was commissioned by IRCT to produce a Community Land Use Plan based on an impartial engagement process and detailed landscape analysis. PAS worked in partnership with the local community and key stakeholders such as The Highland Council and SNH to produce a plan balancing a variety of viewpoints.
