Planning Aid Scotland becomes a gold accredited 4-Day Week employer

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve received official accreditation from the 4 Day Week Foundation! We made the decision to permanently adopt a four-day work week — and the results have been overwhelmingly positive.
Our Chief Executive, Johanna Boyd, explained: “We are very pleased to receive accreditation from the 4 Day Week Foundation. We trialled the four-day work week initially and saw impressive results, in terms of productivity, staff wellbeing and overall impact on our culture. After the pilot and with the support of our Board, we decided to make it permanent. Our key twin focus has been on improving staff wellbeing while retaining the quality of our services — and the results have been overwhelmingly positive.”
The shift to a four-day work week has resulted in numerous benefits for both staff and the organisation as a whole. Our employees now work four days a week (32 hours) with no reduction in pay, allowing them an additional day to recharge, spend time with family or pursue personal interests. This change has led to improved work-life balance, reduced burnout and increased productivity.
It’s no secret that burnout is a growing issue in many workplaces, but we hope our journey proves that there’s another way and inspires other organisations to explore new ways of working that benefit both employees and the people they serve.
