How to enhance your engagement skills

Join our next SP=EED training event on 15 September

Want to brush up on your community engagement skills? Are you a community about to create a local place plan? Looking for professional recognition of your engagement skills? Then this may be for you…

SP=EED Verification is a two-part programme to develop your skills in community engagement in planning and placemaking. Using our SP=EED framework, you’ll grow your confidence to design, deliver and evaluate engagement processes.

We’re delighted to announce the next date for SP=EED training, which will take place online on Thursday 15 September 2022 (10am-3pm).

The two-part training verifies an individual’s competence in using the SP=EED approach to engagement, developed by PAS since 2008.

Key benefits of undertaking SP=EED Verification include:

  • develop a greater understanding of SP=EED and its practical application
  • deeper understanding of the range of skills required for effective engagement including interpersonal and “softer” skills
  • encourages the use of a range of creative and effective engagement tools to suit different scenarios
  • offers individuals the opportunity to have their engagement methods verified by independent planning and engagement professionals

“Gaining SP=EED Verification has been really useful to enhancing the quality of my community engagement work with communities on planning issues. The training provided lots of fresh ideas and a good explanation of the SP=EED process. The materials provided were very comprehensive and invaluable to completing my project”
