We are looking for an Advice Service Manager to manage our highly respected advice service which deals with hundreds of enquiries from individuals and community groups every year.

The Scottish Government provides funding for PAS to deliver the free advice service which gives communities, individuals, interest and amenity groups, social enterprises, business start-ups, development and civic trusts access to information and advice on the Scottish planning system; and supports communities in development and place-based planning.

Due to the departure of our current advice service manager and a continuing increase in the number of enquiries to the service, we are now looking for a MRTPI qualified planner to run the service and to offer advice and information to those who contact us, alongside the Planning & Policy manager and PAS volunteers.

The successful candidate will enjoy interacting with members of the public, our volunteers and other planning professionals. Enquiries cover a wide range of issues and all aspects of planning. The postholder will assess all enquiries and either deal with the case themselves or will allocate it to one of our volunteers, who are all MRTPI and come from a range of planning backgrounds. There may also be scope for the postholder to contribute to projects and other areas of PAS’s work.

We anticipate filling this as a full-time post (35 hours) but are willing to consider alternative arrangements for the right candidate. PAS provides a generous holiday entitlement (25 days + 10 public holidays + 3 days Christmas office closure), flexible working hours and an employer’s pension contribution of 8.5%. The salary will be in the range £27,298 – £33,919.

PAS has an office in Edinburgh city centre (not fully accessible) although all staff are currently working from home. It is anticipated that future working arrangements will be a blend of home and office working.

PAS is an equal opportunities employer. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any additional support needs.

We have extended the period for submitting applications and completed forms should be returned to Jenny Pendreigh jenny@pas.org.uk by 9am on Tuesday 20 April. Interviews will be held by Zoom on Thursday 22 April.
