By Leaves We Live (BLWL) is an initiative by PAS inspired by Sir Patrick Geddes (1854-1932; known as the founding father of town planning). It looks at innovative approaches to raise awareness of the connection between taking planning decisions and sustaining Scotland’s natural spaces: from urban woodlands to the natural landscapes of our national parks.

BLWL marks the Year of Natural Scotland 2013 and is a collaboration with Creative Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland, Central Scotland Green Network and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, who have funded this project.

BLWL teamed artists with planning professionals to reflect and develop a new language, understanding and tools to capture public knowledge and so enable a wider discussion on what is important to people in everyday life in relation to Scotland’s natural resources.
